A ruined settlement behind a broken black-stone gate, where dwarf prospectors
Norbus Ithermel and Dazlyn Grayshard were digging into a buried temple of
Abbathor — and where the god’s transformed priests, now ochre jellies, blocked
the dig. Site of the 60/40 treasure split, the hidden gemstone coffer, and the
necklace that reads “This is what happens to those who displease me.”
By the end of Session 6 all three jellies were dead, the prospectors had
walked out on the broken deal and stripped their camp, and seven orcs had
come up the canyon to claim the ruin as a fort — and died in the entrance
hall.
In Session 7 the party burrowed through the last rubble wall into a sealed
round chamber: two pedestals, two statues, one already in pieces, and a
booby-trapped emerald. It matches the ledger’s sacrifice chamber, though
nothing in the room confirmed it. Working the gearing beneath
both pedestals opened a hidden alcove holding the temple’s final offering
chest — 150 gold, 70 tarnished silver, and a written instruction to take it and
forget the god. The party left at dawn with all of it.
Two cave-ins in the eastern passage are still unexcavated, and the temple’s
actual hoard has never been found.
Slashing splits them (Dax proves it the hard way). Thom’s Wild Magic Surge ages him years; Bean lands a natural 20. One more jelly waits in the rubble.
A hidden coffer of gemstones the dwarves don’t know about, and a gold necklace overwritten in ancient Dwarvish: “This is what happens to those who displease me.”
Session 6The last jelly, and the doors behind it The final jelly splits once more and dies. Behind a third secret door: a cave-in, a crypt, a vestry, and a sleeping chamber with a longsword that never rotted.
The party lies to Norbus and Dazlyn about the haul. Bean pays out five gold of her own. The dwarves strip their camp and leave without a word.
A raiding band scouting the ruin as a fort. Dax funnels them through the entrance hall; three of the party go down. Their leader knew him by his work at Gnomengarde.
Rut burrows through the rubble as a giant badger into a sealed round chamber. Lifting the emerald detonates the statue holding it; working the gearing under both pedestals opens the alcove, its last offering chest, and a note releasing whoever survived the room.
