Bean Hootwhistle is small, cheerful, and extremely good at ending fights and acquiring other people’s valuables.

• Out like a light on the party’s first watch, then bitten by the boar that wandered into camp (Session 1).
• Found Facktoré’s bag of 10 gold — her favorite! (Session 2).
• Fought and beat two mimics with the party in the Gnomengarde storage room (Session 3).
• Lifted Harbin Wester’s private notes on Guildmaster Thornton during an unauthorized return visit to his house (Session 4).
• Landed the kill on the first manticore at Umbrage Hill (Session 4).
• Crept into the dwarven excavation to scout, kicked a pebble, stayed unseen anyway — and then announced herself: “I’m Bean!” (Session 5).
• Landed a natural-20 sneak attack in the ochre jelly fight (Session 5).
• Shot the last jelly from clear across the chamber without being spotted (Session 6).
• Settled the party’s broken sixty-forty deal by digging five gold pieces out of her own purse and handing them to the dwarves. Bean, who loves gold, paid the bill nobody else would (Session 6).
• Spent the entire orc fight behind one pillar and was never found or hit once, and killed an orc from it (Session 6).
• Checked the hidden chamber for traps twice, found none, and was right — the statue was not a trap so much as a consequence (Session 7).
• Picked the lock on the offering chest in the hidden alcove, the last locked thing in the temple (Session 7).
• Would not put her hands anywhere near the orc dead, and came away from the looting with nothing (Session 7).
• Turned down Harbin’s request that the party guard his house overnight, and suggested a fee might change that (Session 8).
• Went invisible on Thom’s twinned spell and walked into the Miner’s Exchange past the guard holding the door (Session 8).
• Searched Thornton’s desk and found the business exactly as advertised — gold dust, small diamonds, payouts, town names, nothing illegal — including the line recording the gold paid to Dax for the job he did for her (Session 8).
• Picked the sealed trap door open with her thieves’ tools after Thom’s dagger stopped against the catch. Nothing else in the room had a lever, a pressure plate, or a book that pulled out of a shelf (Session 8).
• Climbed down the ladder behind Thom into total darkness, which she cannot see through at all (Session 8).

House rule: Owen ruled in Session 7 that Bean can appraise valuables — an Intelligence check, at disadvantage, always, because she is a thief with an eye for it and not an expert. The gemstone coffer and the emerald are both still waiting on that.
