The Final Offering Note

Found in Session 7, folded in with the coin in the locked chest in the hidden chamber’s alcove — behind a wall that only opens once both statues have given up their gems, in a temple where taking a gem detonates the statue holding it.

May all offerings to Abbathor forever cease. If you have found this room and you have survived, take what remains. Let the memory of Abbathor be forgotten.

It is the counterpart to the ledger, and it reads like the last entry nobody wrote in it. The ledger is generations of priests accounting for what they gave and insisting the god would be pleased with their investments; this is somebody at the end of that, deliberately closing the account.

The open question

It is written in Common. Not Dwarvish — not the older dialect the ledger uses, not the runes cut into the holy symbol or acid-etched over the necklace. The language a dwarven priesthood would not have used among themselves, in a temple sealed for centuries, on the one document meant to be read by whoever came last.

Nobody in the party has asked why. Thom showed the note around chiefly to establish that they had been invited to rob the place.
